No IELTS? No Problem.

International applicants need to meet certain language requirements of the Canadian Designated Institution (CDI) they wish to enroll into. Taking the IELTS examination in and hitting the desired score (6.0-7.0 depending on the program) may be challenging for one. What do you do if you have not had years of test preparation and the application deadline is just around the corner?

Have no fear! A variety of seamless pathway programs, designed to improve your academic English skills and prepare you for your academic program, are offered throughout Canada. Applicant may obtain a direct admission into the school of their choice by waiving the requirement of English language proficiency examination upon completion of a recognized University Pathway program.

Once enrolled in a Pathway program, you may be eligible to obtain a Conditional Letter of Acceptance (CLOA) into the selected College/University, which may be used for your Visa and Study Permit applications.

Depending on the length of your program and country of your citizenship you may need to obtain special documentation to study in Canada. If your academic program is longer than 6 months, you have to apply for a Study Permit to remain in Canada.

If the pathway program is shorter, however, such permit will not be required. Once you successfully graduate from one program, you may need to apply for an extension or even new study permit.
